Quote by ValunaWhat did you do...?

I looked pretty exciting at the gif until...I noticed something osd. The submission looks worse than the final part of the gif. All those colours and depth dissapeared. It got this weird saturation and some white filter along with all the depth got killed. I honestly...liked one of the in-progress lightening ones the most above the end gif pic, but the submitted one is horrid compared to those. What happened?

well, I did all the GIF process, but as you can see just by not putting the layers in which the signature was present. In the disclosed process, applied a gray layers, just to give an opaque air with a touch of fog. Personal taste :)

Personal taste or not, it is as I must say it a terrible choice, read on further from Elisa's quote for more info.

Quote by elisadevelonUnfortunately, I have to agree with Val. There are too many filters and gradients, there's too much black on the edges, and the visible parts have too desaturated colors. Even the spell lost its charm. If I were you, I would have stopped somewhere around the 13th frame in the gif while the colors were still bright and fancy. :/

I disagree. My goal from the start was something dull and lifeless, even to the spell of Ahri. So I just left as wanted.

Even though your goal was to make something "dull" looking, your decisions in the execution and sources did not do any justice to it. When you want something dull, choose something with emotion and that looks a bit "lifeless". Ahri looks very much alive, taking out the life she has is like ruining a beautiful piece because it is what you want. No, you dont turn a white person black or a black person white because you want it, you just use the beauty there already is and enhance it. The same goes for art, such as wallpapers. It is either, your choice of sources were bad or your execution is bad. It definitely ain't your skills.

Basically, a proper way to have executed it was decreasing the colours from the start going monochrome or near it. The fog is terrible and just looks like dirt on paper. It is really overfiltered as a lot of detail has been lost. If you want to make it dull, don't make it look perfect without looking dull, start from dull and on. Otherwise you get something like this as a result, which is a ruined supposedly beautiful piece. I really suggest you savr the dull part for something it will work good on and return the life to this piece.

And please, don't be ignorant, be strict towards yourself. You seem to know a bit about everything, so let that knowledge speak for you rather than pure will.
